Huffington Post Comments Commentary Item 2001: 'Bret Easton Ellis: I Was 'Banned' From The GLAAD Media Awards '
I agree with Ellis' position that GLAAD is trying to exert control over the LGBT community by not allowing him to attend the event due to his controversial statements. Just because you are supporting a group of people does not give you the power to try and mold them into the type of people you want them to be. The strings attached have ramifications that remind this reader of the sort of Christian missionary work where food was offered only to those who converted. Any attempt to quantify or control how a person acts or banning said person from an event only because of comments that he or she has made feels like coercion and culture manipulation. This sort of intolerance is rather telling,
